As far as it goes with all my favorite actors, Karl probably took the longest way to make it on that list - considering that I saw him for the first time almost 10 years ago, when my local TV station aired "The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers". But it should take until about two years ago to bring him to my full attention, when I saw "Almost Human" for the first time. I still have the better part of his filmography to watch, but I'm slowly getting there. Oh, and in case you should wonder about the title of this entry - Karl was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, and as we all know, these folks usually get the nickname "kiwi" (and most of his fans call him that way, too) This set was made for the current round over at [profile] gents20in20. Enjoy!

themes: mostly photoshoots, except for:

08-plus one: Karl with his current girlfriend Katee Sackhoff ("Battlestar Galactica") at an event

06-behind: taking care of fan service at the same event

07-up: a cute moment from the Star Trek Beyond press tour

AC: As a contrast to the themes, where I focused on Karl, I chose to icon 10 of his most famous parts in movies and TV.

01-John Kennex (Almost Human): the show that served as starting point for me to be his fan. And it's still a shame that we only got 13 episodes. :((

02-Eomer (The Lord Of The Rings): as mentioned before, the first thing I ever saw of him. The only thing I can remember is the scene from, I think, "The Two Towers", when he and the Riders of Rohan arrive at Helm's Deep just in time to aid in defeating Saruman's Uruk-hai army.

03-Black Hat (Priest): hands down, my favorite in this set, together with "Bones" McCoy. The film itself is, nicely put, below average, but Karl as Black Hat, a vampire, is just awesome.

04-Agent William Cooper (R.E.D.): could have been a great role, but sadly, there was simply not enough space (and time) to develop his character further. Sure, there's some info about him, but it feels like scratching only on the surface. And given the fact that his character didn't make it into the sequel, it leaves you somehow unsatisfied.

05-Gaius Julius Caesar (Xena The Warrior Princess)

06-Ghost (Pathfinder)

07-Lord Vaako (The Chronicles Of Riddick): have seen the first movie, but can't remember his character for the life of me ;)

08-Vincent Stevens (The Loft)

09-Cupid (Hercules The Legendary Journeys/Xena)

10-Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (Star Trek AOS): When the first movie came out, I didn't really pay attention to it. I hardly knew any of the cast, and I was (and still am) a TNG fan. Fast forward to some point later, and the movie is aired on TV. Bam! I, more or less, fell in love with his portrayal of the iconic doctor, and while I haven't seen any of the old episodes (for comparison), I like to think that Karl does a terrific job in both keeping up the legacy of DeForest Kelley and adding new layers to the character.

That's the same guy as Eomer? He doesn't look like hiself at all with/without the long hair, different hair color and the moustache...

(Does he look the same? LOL.)

Great icons BTW.
