I'll try to keep this as vague and as spoiler-free as possible, but I just have to say - Matty rocks as Monroe Stahr! You can feel his enthusiasm, his eagerness to play this complex character in every single scene. As usual with Matt's characters, Monroe is not just that - Matty brings him to life, makes him 3-dimensional and outstanding, charming and simply wonderful, just by being the over-the-top talented, multi-layered actor he is.

The pilot episode only lasts about an hour, but in this +/- 60 minutes, you see Monroe going through almost the whole range of emotions - every single one performed in perfection by Mr. Bomer. The rest of the cast, starting with Kelsey Grammer and Lily Collins, is also excellent, but Matty is the star, the diamond placed in the middle of this "piece of jewelry". I hope and pray that Amazon will pick it up for a whole season, and that we all will find out what happens next to Monroe Stahr and those around him.

And on a side note, I want to share that the exact quote I chose for my solo story entry for this year's [livejournal.com profile] slashorific is in this pilot episode - and that Monroe's the one to say it. *squees* (manip made by me)
