Call me a lemming, but since half (or more) of my flist is already doing it, I thought I should join in too.

Date: 2015-08-18 10:17 pm (UTC)General: I actually wasn't looking for a new show back then, but (a) I got the DVD's for Season 1 and 2 and (b) images of Matt (or better Neal) popped up on Fanpop more and more, and well, I got curious. Watched the two boxes in record time, and the reruns on a local TV station, too. What got me hooked is not just Matt's good looks, but also the bromance between Peter and Neal. Sure, they have their problems, and there are several occasions where I would love to punch the one or the other, but in the end, they do what they do best.
If you want to read more about my love for White Collar:

Writing: that just happened. I have dabbled in different fandoms before (mainly Criminal Minds and Supernatural), but White Collar is definitely my favorite fandom to write for. And I've never ever wrote anything remotely close to my two WCRBB entries before. I still marvel on how I pulled that one off, but somehow I did it. So expect a lot more stories of our favorite duo popping up here.
how about you??

Date: 2015-08-18 11:40 pm (UTC)What drew me to the show are first and foremost the characters. They're all well-rounded and complex in their own rights, and not your typical TV characters. Peter/El ♥♥ and just Peter ♥♥. But all the characters, really, they're all interesting and bring their own little something to the ensemble.
But also, the quality of the writing, the wit of the dialogues. That was a very enjoyable show to watch (and rewatch). Also New York City, and the classy directing style. It's really not your usual TV show.
Also like you said, it's mostly non violent. Cases very rarely involve dead bodies. (ironically the rare deaths are almost all very shocking. Kate, Ellen, Siegel, even the bad guys...).
Fanfics, I think because I started reading some. Then I had an idea that popped into my head, and I was encourage to give it a try. And gradually, I discovered the power and fun of exploring the characters further, write the missing scenes I wished were in the show... And now I'm giving them a future...
Oh wait I realize that doesn't really answer the question "why". Well, because I love the characters and love getting in their head. It's a way to keep the show going in between episodes - and after the end.
(sorry not in the right place!)
